| Imaging Systems |
- Includes a Complete Turn-Key Video Display System!
- The camera, CCTV monitor, cables, fittings, and attachments are included.
- Includes Special High Resolution Color CCD Video Camera with S-Video Output. The S-Video is a much higher quality format than standard composite video that most CCD cameras output. The camera also has a Low Lux requirement so it is extremely sensitive to light, and can pick up a high quality image from a minimal amount of light. This camera also has a special wide dynamic range which is needed for darkfield microscopy. This feature gives a short exposure and a long exposure on one frame. The advantage is that it allows brightly light features against a black background to not overexpose the image. For example, if this camera were used in survellience, it would allow viewing inside a car even at night when the headlights are shining into the view. Another example is for use in astronomy in viewing the moon against black space.
- Includes a Color High Resolution 15” S-Video CCTV Monitor.
- Digital Zoom System: To obtain a zoom feature, other systems employ a costly, long device that sits on the trinocular port. Our system includes a digital zoom in the camera’s output. This allows you to zoom in on a blood cell for greater magnification.

| Superior Illumination |
- Lighting is critical in darkfield applications. Anything less than a 150 Watt source is not going to allow you to see Ultra-Darkfield which is important for properly viewing live blood. This system provides a superior design 150 Watt illumination system for optimal darkfield viewing.
- Maximum Efficiency of Light Source: Our unique, custom designed system has been engineered to give higher performance over other popular darkfield designs that use high illumination. One popular design has fiber optic tubes going from a separate light source box. Although the light bulb might be 150W, it is highly inefficient. The largest loss of light in a fiber optic system is at the source. Imagine holding a piece of black paper with a 1/4" diameter hole up next to a 150W light bulb. Most of the light is wasted by not going through the hole. Even with reflectors on the opposite side, you only get a small percentage of the light into the hold. That's exactly what happens with a fiber optic bundle. In addition, all fiber optic tubes have some light intensity loss, which is proportional to their length. The main benefit with fiber optics is that the heat source is distant from the specimen.
- The advanced design in the Live Blood Labs system eliminates this inefficiency, thus allowing you capacity for a greater light intensity. Instead of a remote light source, the 150W quartz-halogen bulb is located within the lamp housing mounted directly on the rear of the microscope unit. This allows for a maximum transmission efficiency, while maintaining the extremely hot lamp external to the scope housing body. With a conventional microscope, the lamp is mounted directly underneath the scope's light condenser, and is inside the scope body. As long as the lamp doesn't exceed about 30 watts, this is acceptable. But with ultra-darkfield a much higher intensity illumination is imperative to obtain the highest resolution images.
- Another inferior design feature of common darkfield scopes is the method of light condensing and focusing. Other popular darkfield models run the fiber optic tubes directly to the darkfield condenser. This just floods the darkfield condenser with light. It does not provide even, focused light rays, as would be seen with a Koehler illumination focusable field diaphragm mounted on the base when the light source is within the base. The focused Koehler illuminated light is more efficient and precisely focuses the light beam on the bottom of the darkfield condenser at the right focal plane.
- The Live Blood Labs unit has eliminated both of these inefficient features. The high wattage lamp is mounted on the rear of the scope, eliminating the loss of having a remote light source. And the light is directed via a mirror to come from the base of the scope, allowing it to utilize the Koehler illumination focusable field diaphragm. This eliminates the inefficient method of running the light directly to the darkfield condenser and blasting it with unfocused light.
